Primary Purpose

Description

Responsible for the design and development of high-speed I/O cages for applications in networking, data communications and telecommunications areas. Leads the product design activities through collaboration with cross function teams and following Molex stage -gate product development processes.

Duties And Responsibilities

What You Will Do In Your Role

• Design and develop new high-speed I/O cage assemblies utilizing the latest 3D CAD modeling techniques and other engineering tools such as tolerance analysis, simulation, brainstorming, global collaboration and prototype development
• Leads new product development efforts using the Product Development Process (Stage-Gate System). Development of the product concept through volume production.
• Strong Mandarin, and English both verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate the ability to express complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
• Manages project expenses within authorization limits set by Engineering management.
• Provides technical support to marketing to consolidate inputs from marketing, customers and industry standards groups into product concepts and detailed requirements.
• Presents concepts and detailed requirements internally and to customers to obtain support for development of major new products.
• Develop product specs, application specs and other engineering standards associated with the product performances and applications.
• Collaborate with cross function teams on design for manufacturability and drive design optimization for cost effectiveness.
• Establishes product development plans and completes projects on time and according to the specified performance requirements and costs.
• Understand, support, and contribute to Molex Environmental, Health and Safety policies and procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
  

Requirements

The Experience You Will Bring

EDUCATION

Required

Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering or related

Preferred

Additional course work in Electrical Engineering

Work Related Experience

Required:Min 2 years electromechanical product design experience. Working understanding of mold, stamping tooling and manufacturing process Good customer facing skills.

Preferred:Design experiences in sheet metal parts, interconnect devices or electromechanical components.

SKILLS Required

What Will Put You Ahead

• Proficient in any of the following CAD programs: NX, CoCreate, Pro/E, SolidWorks. Proficient in MS Office.
• Understanding of GD&T. FMEA.
• Able to perform tolerance analysis. Experience with finite element analysis.
• Project management skills that demonstrate the ability to set goals and priorities to complete projects in a systematic and timely manner.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate the ability to express complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
• Analytical ability to apply logical reasoning, test assumptions, observe results and make corrections. Knowledge of SPC (Statistical Process Control).

• Domestic and/or international travel will be required as necessary.
• Strong Mandarin and English both verbal and written.
