Job Summary

Responsible for leading audio design, testing and reporting at ODMs and at NZXT. You will be a key member of the development team for NZXT audio products. Conducts feasibility studies, design margin and validation analyses and empirical testing on new and modified designs. Assists in mechanical and electrical audio product architecture development and assessment. Evaluates reliability of materials, properties, designs, and techniques used in production. This role collaborates closely with our Industrial Design, Product Management, and Operations team to concept, design, and manufacture of audio equipment. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and has grounded experience in product development and working with contract manufacturers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform electro-acoustic measurements of prototypes, engineering samples, and competitive products
  • Interpret, summarize, and present measurement results to assist with design verification and competitive bench marking
  • Perform audio subsystem design like MCU, codec, DSP, and amplifier
  • Perform acoustic design, includes define speaker, mic components
  • Develop new or improved mechanical, acoustic, and DSP solutions on headphones, microphones, and loudspeakers
  • Validate audio performance with subjective testing, and create tuning targets based on objective and subjective data
  • Write reports, white papers, and patents

Qualifications
  • Solid understanding of standard methods for measuring and analyzing headphones, microphones, and loudspeakers
  • Hands-on experience with audio analyzers (e.g. Audio Precision, Soundcheck, Klippel R&D System) and headphone measurement fixtures, couplers, and microphones (e.g. GRAS, B&K)
  • Familiar with audio HW subsystem design, including MCU, codec, DSP, amplifier
  • Familiar with I2C, I2S, USB audio, PDM, and TDM interface
  • Extensive DSP tuning and other integrated audio systems either mechanically or with digital signal processing
  • Experience specifying requirements for acoustic components, including drivers, microphones, chamber and port geometries, and mesh materials
  • Experience on all EE tests, includes EMI, ESD, and audio electrical testing
  • Proficiency with Matlab, Python, or equivalent for audio signal analysis, system modeling, and data visualization
  • Ability to summarize and present test results to convey ideas effectively and clearly
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • BS / MS degree in Electrical Engineering, or Acoustics, and 8+ years of relevant industry experience

Skills
  • Experience with audio product development cycle and commercial launch process
  • Advanced system and algorithm experience including beamforming, spatial audio, ANC, adaptive / dynamic signal processing, and machine learning methods
  • Experience with using DAWs or other audio recording tools
  • Familiarity with COMSOL, or other modeling software to simulate acoustic quality
  • Experience working with multi-national product and engineering teams
