At Applied Materials, our innovations make possible the technology shaping the future.Your OpportunityAs the Buyer for Global General Procurement (G2P) at Applied Materials, you would be managing the day-to-day tactical sourcing processes while balancing the responsibilities of establishing and maintaining credible, professional relationships with other business partners, stakeholders and external vendors. Raises and track issue and conflicts, remove barriers, resolve issues of medium complexity involving stakeholders and escalate to appropriate level when required. This role will be addressing tactical buying and sourcing of key components/materials from other OEM’s or alternative suppliers.
  • Works closely with Enggs to evaluate and participate in regional and global sourcing activities in procuring materials, components, equipment and services, R&D, fixtures at the lowest cost consistent with consideration of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need. Expedites and ensures the timely receipt of materials.
  • Establish supplier bases for each area defining short- & long-term sourcing strategies and aligning with the Engineers
  • Perform procurement according to defined strategies and frameworks and negotiate commercial and legal agreements
  • Support on identifying and proposing cost saving opportunity within own scope of responsible commodity by analyzing and comparing. Implement the defined actions to ensure continuously generating savings for nonproduction and target is achieved;
  • Coordinate cross functional teams to secure the deliverable of project.
  • Manage key supplier relationships and associated SLAs by driving and supporting the success of NPR&I SRM Program
  • Negotiates pricing and other terms of purchase. manage strategic suppliers which identified with top spending and suppliers w/ filed activities. Quotes materials; procures materials, components, equipment and services, R&D, fixtures at the lowest cost consistent with consideration of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need. Expedites and ensures the timely receipt of materials.
  • Issues RFQs, analyzes proposals, negotiates prices and delivery, issues and/or adjusts purchase orders in a timely manner. Follows-up on orders, verifies delivery, approves payment, and maintains necessary records. Negotiates vendor contracts, as appropriate. Follows standard purchasing business processes.
  • Coordinates/drives purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels. Leads problem resolution for material related accounting and receiving issues.
  • Develops methods of business simplification for the procurement function. Assists or participates with the development of ISO documents for the purchasing function.
  • Maintains inventory levels per plan. Minimizes excess and zero demand inventory. Provides input to management regarding action plans to address long term issues.
  • Pulls and reads part specifications and engineering drawings. Utilizes knowledge of material types to communicate with engineers and suppliers. Provides feedback to engineering for cost reduction efforts.
