JOB SUMMARY

Lead engineering project teams focused on significant and unique engineering projects and design/development challenges. Also effectively manage a group of related projects through the entire product development process into production in a coordinated manner. Directly manage matrixed cross-functional program team consisting of engineering, manufacturing, contracts, procurement, quality, administrative, and other departments assigned to the program. Embrace continual/rigor review, analysis, change across program-level components to support program outcome through active promotion of value management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • [Leadership] Lead design teams through full product development and into production (E2E execution).
  • [Leadership]EffectivelyLead/supervise multiple engineering projects on significantly challenging and unique product applications.
  • [Leadership]Expected to demonstrate a level of expertise in a particular area that matches or exceeds the expertise of our customers. Consult on system architectures/system leads to assess technical requirements and competencies needed during quoting and oversee design progressions, issues triages and risk management during product developments.
  • [Leadership]Will represent Jabil Design Engineering in technical customer discussions / meetings.
  • [Leadership] Host and lead communication all aspects of the program effectively to customers and lead critical and high profile customer engagements.
  • [Leadership] Lead remote development teams.
  • [Collaboration]Work with Program Managers and Core teams in the quoting process/design phases.
  • [Initiatives]Expected to take lead of the initiatives of the development and utilization of processes improvement for project E2E execution.
  • [Initiatives]Work with Site Directors to define potential R&D project proposals that will help increase areas of competencies needed.
  • [Initiatives]Lead the development and implementation of platform and product architectures in collaboration with senior technical staff.
  • [Influence]Mentoring of all engineering staff
  • [Learning]Stay abreast of the latest technology and techniques to provide designs that are competitive and cost effective.
  • [Scope]Ensure satisfaction of all contractual and Statement of Work (SOW) requirements on the program.
  • [Schedule] Own the top-level program master schedule that defines the individual component schedules and dependencies between program components (individual projects and program level activities) required to achieve the program goal.
  • [Cost] Develop the program’s budget by compiling all available financial information and track the program’s costs (attribtable to the individual components within the program) and ensure these program costs do not exceed the program’s planned budget in order to satisfy the business case.
  • [Risk]Provide technical input to help identify and solve project risks that may affect overall project plans and schedules
  • [Growth]May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

  • Job is NOT directly responsible for managing other employees (e.g., hiring/termination and/or pay decisions, performance management).

Technical Knowledge& Skills

  • Expert knowledge in his own expertise (EE/ME/FW/SW/Thermal….).

An expertise in a particular field of engineering or within a particular sector.

  • Expert knowledge of project management principles, fundamentals and knowledge areas.
  • Detailed knowledge of Agile practices
  • In-depth knowledge of product ideates, development, manufacturing and sustaining processes.
  • Highly skilled in key project management tools (ie. Microsoft Project) and requirements management tools.
  • Expert in Budget planning, estimating, funding, managing, updating, reporting, and controlling costs so that programs can be completed within the approved budget.
  • Extensive knowledge in developing methods to reduce program and project costs by streamlining processes and systems (i.e. modification of responsibilities or consolidation of tasks, elimination of non-value-added processes, or complete re-engineering of processes and systems).
  • Highly skilled integrating the Change Management Process with project management to meet the project objectives.
  • Lead programs in a stage-gate process.
  • Solid technical background to recognize, assess and communicate cross-functional issues and risks.
  • Awareness of industry or specific sector, regulatory and safety standards.

EDUCATION& EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in Engineering (BS/MS/MBA) or equivalent education.
  • 15+ years’ experience in Technical Project Management/Design Manager (DM)/Engineering Project Manager (EPM).
  • Candidate with R&D team management is preferrable.
  • PMP (PMI) or PRINCE2 Certification is preferrable.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to develop mathematical models of physical reality and solve them, then implement the results.
