Staff Failure Analysis Engineer

Synaptics is looking for a Staff Failure Analysis Engineer to join our dynamic and growing organization. You will be responsible for determining the root cause of failure on customer returns. You will use your strong understanding of electronic device operation, semiconductor device physics, analog and mixed signal circuits and a high attention to detail to complete failure analysis projects. The successful candidate will have good experience with different failure analysis techniques and work well with others. This position reports to the Sr. Manager, Foundry Engineering

Responsibilities

Job Duties

• Analyze customer RMAs and identify root cause of failure on wireless, Video interface ICs, automotive, touch (TDDI and DDIC) and audio DSP, SOC products
• Analyze failures observed on products in New Technology Introduction phase
• Work with Design, Application, Process, Product and Package engineering teams to identify the root cause of failure to propose corrective actions
• Generate Failure Analysis reports
• Meet Synaptics failure analysis cycle time and quality commitments

Qualifications

Requirements)

• Bachelor’s degree (Master’s a plus) in Engineering, Physics, or Science BS degree with semiconductor emphasis or related field or equivalent
• 8+ years of experience in Failure Analysis, Process Engineering Product Engineering
• Strong technical understanding of Analog & Mixed signal circuit analysis and layout
• Experience using several lab equipment (Oscilloscopes, function generators, Source meter, power supplies, DMMs etc.) to perform IC characterization at bench level
• Experience with FA equipment (EMMI, OBIRCH, SEM, FIB, X-Ray, etc.) and strong understanding of their operation principles
• Good troubleshooting skills
• Good English written, verbal communication and presentation skills
• Fab and/or assembly process experience a plus
• Ability to travel internationally up to 5% based on business need
