Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Quality and Reliability Engineering Teams analyze the ability of product and production systems to comply with customer and contractual requirements through established reliability factors. They design, recommend revisions and install quality control systems, develop and document analytical methods for establishing reliability of products and their components and conduct analysis on relative reliability with regards to cost, structure, weight, maintainability, facility of production, and availability of materials and equipment. Out teams develop, implement and monitor company environmental safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health and safety regulations and recommend corrective actions if necessary. They are responsible for policies and practices to comply with applicable government regulations and industry requirements related to product environmental compliance, the implementation and management of technical and testing standards and specifications, quality control and reliability programs governing materials, product and processes, resulting in the optimization of material and labor, as well as failure analysis, root cause, corrective action and customer communication.

What Your Background Should Look Like

[Overview]:
  • Designs and installs quality control process sampling systems, procedures, and statistical techniques.
  • Designs or specifies inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment.
  • Analyzes production limitations and standards.
  • Recommends revisions of specifications as required.
  • Formulates or assists in formulation of quality control policies and procedures.
  • Develops economics of quality control program as required.
  • Prepares documentation for inspection/testing procedures.
[Responsibility]:

Internal Coordination

(i) Apply sound engineering analysis to initiate projects with manufacturing plant / related department to identify and address repeat product failures or needed process improvements

(ii) Perform routine Quality Assurance roles and responsibilities when needed to support activities such as coordinate Quality Alerts issued by plant, customer audit to manufacturing plant, gather quality reports or document requested by customers, PPAP’s, Deviations, etc.

(iii) To coordinate with Sales/CCP Team to ensure Sales/CCP are aware of the quality issues and plan for good parts delivery to give our best support to customer.

(iv) To perform task assigned by CQE Manager.

Client Relationship Development & Maintenance

(i) Create and maintain good client relationship.

(ii) Assessing customer specific quality requirements on product, process and service. Creating awareness within TE organization on these specific requirements and feedback to customer on areas that TE cannot comply with explanation.

(iii) To coordinate internally to support customer request on UL Certification, RoHS/HSF declarations, etc.

(iv) Representing TE (together with Sales) for supplier evaluation / scorecard meeting at the customer and coordinating actions with related departments/plants for improvement where needed.

Customer Complaint Handling

(i) Work directly with customers to understand and define product failure.

(ii) Log customer complaint case in SAP/TECHS and monitor closure with key contact timely.

(iii) Work with customer, internal and external manufacturing sources to establish root cause if it is customer application, design, engineering, manufacturing or supplier related issue.

(iv) Direct appropriate testing for failure analysis and analyze and interpret results.

(v) Lead or interface with cross-functional teams (Quality, Manufacturing, Product Engineering, Product Management, Sales, Materials, etc) to resolve product quality issues.

(vi) To work with customer and distribution center to ensure effective containment action is done to support customers’ production line.

(vii) To work with manufacturing sources to ensure good 8D report to be submitted to customers timely.

(viii) Communications / coordination about problems, actions and results with customers timely.

(ix) Provide customer application details to the Techs Key Contact for quality complaint investigation.

  • Patience, customer focus, pro-active, result driven, good communication skills
  • Experience in core manufacturing competencies and with good SMT knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to identify root cause, drive improvement actions and resolve problems.
  • Experience in product test development and laboratory analysis to support root cause analysis and conclusions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well with all levels.
  • Background in statistic and proficiency in quality tools.
