About The Job

The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical and HVAC systems in the world. As an Environmental & Safety Technician, you monitor and support all environmental, health and safety (EHS) activities at Google’s data centers. You take ownership of the EHS programs for data center operations and are at the forefront of exceptional environmental/safety practices. In addition, you ensure that contractors deliver quality services and that problems are identified and properly corrected quickly. You bring the ideas of our Data Center EHS team to life and develop creative approaches to improve performance and efficiency.

As a member of Data Center EHS team (DCEHS), you will be responsible for supporting new site construction environmental, health, and safety compliance through operational EHS leadership. You will play a critical role in ensuring all EHS issues are identified and addressed by working collaboratively with a cross-functional team of Google Data Center (GDC) departments and contractors to protect Google’s interests.

In this role, you will also be responsible for creating accurate and coordinated timelines that support the Data Center Program Management (DCPMG) and Data Center Services (DCS) teams, in meeting scheduled facility ready dates while ensuring compliance and contractor oversight.

Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google’s product portfolio possible. We’re proud to be our engineers’ engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.

Responsibilities

  • Support Data Center Services (DCS), Program Management Group (PMG), and Data Center Operations (DCOps) by leading EHS program implementation and oversight from construction through operations.
  • Manage projects associated with all aspects of industrial and construction EHS compliance programs, with an emphasis on electrical safety.
  • Manage oversight of construction activities to protect Google’s interests during general contractor ownership of site activities.
  • Provide EHS support for existing fleet as needed, as well as support within the region and at a global level for all EHS programs and initiatives.
