Job Summary

CSA Group has an immediate opportunity for a technical expert for our Wiring Devices products in our Technical Management Department. This position will be responsible for providing technical leadership and will act as the senior technical lead in our Technical Support & Oversight group and among all CSA Group certification offices and Network Partners (16 countries and over 30 facilities).

Responsibilities

As the successful candidate you will:
  • Be responsible for safety standards for Wiring Devices products using North American and internationally developed standards.
  • Support Operations activities involving accreditation in SCC, IAS, OSHA, etc. for standards within your assigned areas.
  • Conduct internal audits of CSA Group laboratories and technical staff to ensure a consistent and high level of quality.
  • Support and overseas technical networks and technical forums by answering technical questions and exchange technical knowledge.
  • Responsible for developing new certification programs for CSA Group in your Wiring Devices product area.
  • Participate, under the direction of the Technical Manager, in trinational (CANENA) and international standards development work ( IEC).
Also, you will be heavily involved in developing, arranging and delivering training of technical staff and customers as well as providing effective dispute resolution. Resolving technical issues and providing interpretation of technical requirements that requires application of engineering principles.

Education & Experience
  • University degree in a relevant discipline of engineering and professional registration preferable.
  • Must have proven analytical skills and technical experience in interpretation of technical requirements within the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Experience in standards development activities.
  • Ten (10) years of relevant experience in wiring Devices
Skills
  • Must have exceptional interpersonal, communication (both written and oral), and presentation skills to make complex ideas and concepts sound simple.
  • Strong training skills must be evident since training of staff and passing along knowledge and experiences are critical elements of this position.
  • Strong leadership skills are essential, as is the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization in a collaborative fashion (can you constructively manage conflict?).
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills are necessary.
  • Must be flexible and perform well in a team environment under pressure, with multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Must be willing to travel globally.
  • Must have demonstrated competence for the position and commitment to technical excellence.
  • Must have strong computer skills.
