A Little About Us:

Commerce is a fast-growing business for Yahoo in the US. We are expanding and looking for outstanding backend engineers to join our Global Commerce team. Our mission is to help the world’s consumers save time and money - on their everyday purchases and purchases related to their passions. Towards this mission, we are building, experimenting, and iterating on various new and existing commercial experiences in Yahoo. Therefore, we need to build and scale highly performant, reliable, and secure backend platforms, APIs, tools, and systems.

You are a self-starter with a passion for creating software systems at scale. You are comfortable working in a dynamic environment, with the ability to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks to keep pace with a fast and innovative market. Your strong technical background, innovation, and clear communication skills will serve you well in this demanding role, as will your comfort working with our high-energy team.

Your Day:

• Design, build and maintain scalable and robust APIs
• Performance optimizations on the backend with highly challenging SLAs
• Ensure system responsiveness, robustness and high availability on our AWS Tech Stack
• Directly impact our generated revenue by implementing critical business features
• Work closely with a team of engineers to drive design and execution
• Work seamlessly in individual and team settings on cutting edge technologies towards innovation on commerce products across different device platforms
• Participate in a culture of learning through design discussions and code reviews
  
  

Minimum qualifications:

• BS/M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent and 7+ Years of experience
• Expert level in one or more general-purpose programming languages, including but not limited to Java, C/C++, C#, Objective C, Python, JavaScript, or Go
• Experience in working with product managers and engineers to define complex functional and engineering requirements and designs
• Expertise in design of REST APIs, OOP, and related standard methodologies
• Ability to mentor and lead junior team members in technical design and execution
• Build and maintain production-grade distributed software systems
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Delivered results in a fast-paced environment that requires ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously without compromising quality
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as well as on a team
  
  

Preferred qualifications:

• Deep programming experience and expertise in Java
• Experience in modern development methodologies like CI/CD and Agile developing
• Experience in cloud technologies, such as Hadoop, HBase, Storm, and AWS services
