Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with reliability management for NPI of consumer products.
  • 5 years of experience working with DFMEA and DOE, including identifying and managing reliability risks.
  • Ability to speak and write in English and Chinese fluently.

Preferred qualifications:
  • PhD degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in developing and qualifying high-complexity, high-volume consumer hardware products with various modules built into them, that operate in indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Knowledge of Industry Test Standards (JEDEC, ASTM, IEEE).
  • Effective management skills on reliability for New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • Exceptional problem-solving and communication skills.

About The Job

As a Reliability Engineer, you’ll lead the reliability development within an innovative Google Design team working on products. You will be responsible for developing and executing reliability tests on new Google and supplier technologies, the development of test procedures used to quantify the reliability and quality of a design, and lead the failure analysis resulting from these tests.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure product reliability for New Product Introduction (NPI) as well as sustaining products.
  • Maintain key relationships with outside testing labs and internal groups, as well as contract manufacturer (CM) partners, while developing in-house capabilities where needed. Be responsible for alternate source qualifications for NPI and sustaining products.
  • Provide design input to improve product reliability. Develop in-house engineering and lab capabilities with the advent of future products.
  • Develop test plans, execute them, plan and manage budget (internal and external resources and equipment), and create and present reports. Manage the product reliability from prototype stage all the way through the end of life.
  • Act as tech lead for Pixel projects of highly complexity and impact; manage project priorities and technical resources (may manage people).
