Job Description

This position is for a Graduate Intern in a year-round internship position, allowing for full-time work in the summer time and part-time during the school year in the Platform Architecture Integration and Validation (PAIV) organization, located within Intel’s Data Platform Group (DPG). This Data Center team is responsible for architecting and delivering the technology and systems that support Intel’s current and next generation of Xeon processors and chipsets, as well as other data-centric technologies.

Students with backgrounds in Electrical Engineering (including both Analog and Digital Design backgrounds), Computer Science, Data Science, and Computer Engineering will find opportunities to contribute and well as grow in their understanding and career.

Student Interns will have the opportunity to be actively engaged with Intel engineers in pathfinding and investigating solutions to challenging problems, as well as developing and influencing the future architecture of Intel’s next generation platforms and products.

Year-round internship positions enable students to gain hands-on work in the lab while also participating in future technology and platform architecture, pathfinding, and methodology development. Ideally, internships allow students to apply their academic research and study to real-world applications.

Year-round Internship Projects And Focus Areas Might Include
  • Pathfinding work helping to architect the next generation of power efficient and performance optimized Intel data center platforms and industry leading technologies.
  • Leveraging your Analog design to debug and improve leading-edge PHY implementations on Intel Silicon.
  • Developing new and innovative test/validation methodologies to source hidden bugs or defects that are typically difficult to find with straight-forward approaches.
  • Maximizing power and performance trends on Intel servers in the data center.
  • Influencing Industry direction on new technologies and specifications.
  • In-depth debug and analysis of key current generation and future generation technologies (PCI Express, Compute Express Link, DDR, etc.) using state of the art test and measurement tools.
  • Data acquisition in the lab to determine performance and quality of current designs.
  • Developing designs improvements of various circuit implementations: SERDES, PLL, etc.
  • Leading the development of new telemetry solutions to assist in more efficient and timely data collection methods.
  • Developing new approaches for Data Analytics and Data Mining to foster improved methodology and AI influenced analysis.
  • Analyzing and developing new interconnect and data transmission strategies including those involving Silicon Photonics.
  • Providing Signal Integrity and Power Integrity analysis of current and future gen platform designs.
  • Assist in the creation of new test content (methods, approaches, executable programming, etc.) that will run on current or future Intel server platforms.
Qualifications

Minimum qualifications are required to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications

Be currently enrolled and working to complete a Bachelor, Master’s degree or PhD degree in either Electrical or Computer Engineering or Computer Science or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with either C,C#, C++ and/or Python programming.

Solid knowledge of Circuit design and Digital Systems.

Experience with Power BI or JMP analysis software.

Understanding of Intel computer architecture.

Experience running tests or gathering data in a lab setting would be a plus.

Experience in creating a Design of Experiments (DOE) is a plus.

Experience in working with lab equipment O-scope, Logic Analyzer, etc. would be a plus.

Experience in computer operating systems such as Linux, Windows, VMware, etc. would be a plus.

Requirements listed would be obtained through a combination of industry relevant job experience, internship experiences, and/or schoolwork, classes, or research.
