Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 7 years of commodity management or supply chain management experience in a related industry.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineer, Business Administration, or relevant field or equivalent practical experience.
• 10 years of experience in commodity management or supply chain management.
• Strong analytical skills (i.e., cost modeling, supply/demand/forecast analysis, and roadmap development).
• Strong communication and leadership skills; ability to assume a leadership role with cross-functional peers.

About The Job

Commodity Managers work with Engineering teams to make sure Google has the supplies and equipment to put into production the innovative products coming from our Engineering teams. As a Commodity Manager, you use your wide industry knowledge and strategic supplier relationships to optimize our total cost of ownership for our global -- and growing -- infrastructure. The scale at which Google operates means that savings on just one piece of hardware can have a huge impact on Google’s bottom line.

As Global Supply Chain Manager in Chrome OS, you will build relationship with component suppliers (including their executives), and ODMs. Working with Engineering, Product Manager, Hardware/Component, Ecosystem, and other cross-functional leads, you will conduct supply risk assessment of critical components for various SoC platform Chromebooks. To help build supply chain intelligence, you will triangulate information based on various sources of data (e.g., component vendors, ODMs, OEMs etc.). You will provide inputs in material planning strategy and supply planning. You’ll partner with cross-functional team leads to create a pipeline of second source parts for single source components including pricing and supply volume information. Lastly, you will optimize total cost of global OEM-produced Chromebooks.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute global supply chain strategies.
• Establish executive relationships with key component suppliers and provide multiple component options with engineering teams to enable platform volume scale with minimized Google engineering efforts.
• Drive suppliers to ensure material availability and readiness for the product builds.
• Manage scale and component lead time and evaluate associate supply chain risks.
