The Data and EC Planning team, a subdivision of Strategy and Biz Ops, TW, offers various data-related services such as data/business analytics, CRM, data science, BI, etc., and Biz Ops support to vital senior stakeholders. Our mission is to create value from the audience, transaction, and advertising data by building a logical data foundation, generating actionable business insights, and identifying new business opportunities that improve our user/partner/advertiser’s experiences and grow our business.

A Lot About You

A data engineer is expected to work with our data scientist to apply engineering thinking and techniques to improve the system performance and effectiveness of our products and consolidate machine learning mechanisms. You might also need to perform system performance tuning for online serving, cloud computing, code refactoring, and infrastructure designing. You will have the opportunity to publish your work and expand the horizons of web science and the experience of building online systems.

You will provide infrastructure designing, code development, execution, and innovation across specific engagements. The role is expected to collaborate with data scientists, business units, and analysts. The ideal candidate would have a strong understanding of web service development, java programming, and data ETL pipeline development.

Your Day

• Responsible for working with relevant customer groups to inject innovation into business processes and create feature backlogs and related user stories.
• Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with other stakeholder groups such as Business units, Product, Engineering & Operation Org, and senior management
• Grow the technical expertise of your teams by leveraging state of the art tools
• Communicate cross-team dependency issues quickly and follows up to ensure prompt resolution
• Ability to work on multiple streams/features simultaneously, keep momentum on each, and manage client expectations
• Identify technology risks early and establish mitigation plans
• Help with ongoing management of and maintenance of technical systems
  
  

You Must Have

• An excellent coder with proficient object-oriented programming skills (Java). Familiar with Spark.
• Great on API and service architecture design. A proven ability to create robust and reusable data services.
• Have good communication capability to work with the product owners and data scientists.
• Have a strong passion for delivering data insights and data services by leveraging a scalable machine learning cloud platform
• Linux/Unix experience.
• BS or MS in Computer Science
• Have solid passions and interests in big data processing and parallel distributed computing.
• it’s a plus to have experience in Big Data and streaming solutions, such as Redis, Vespa, Kafka, Hbase, Spark streaming, and Storm
