About The Job

Google’s custom-designed machines make up one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world. The Hardware Testing Engineering team ensures that this cutting-edge equipment is reliable. In the R&D lab, you design test equipment for prototypes of our machinery and develop the protocols used to scale these tests for the entire global team. Working closely with design engineers, you give input on designs to improve our hardware until you’re sure it meets Google’s standards of quality and reliability.

Our Consumer Hardware team researches, designs, and develops technologies and hardware to make user interaction with computing faster, more powerful, and seamless. Whether finding ways to capture and sense the world around us, advancing form factors, or improving interaction methods, our Consumer Hardware team helps improve lives through technology.

In this role, you will review system designs and test them against specifications. You’ll plan for testing, execute testing, and report problems to the Development team to enable the development of systems, infrastructures, and products. You will execute verifications and qualifications during the design phase, complete the physical modifications of the hardware to enable testing, and observe and debug live hardware. You’ll evaluate, verify, and improve Google’s hardware test coverage.

The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world’s most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

  • Develop test methodologies and tools, building automation equipment and image quality statistics/analysis using C, C++, C#, and Python.
  • Drive corrective action during verification. Report bugs during verification and recommend corrective action with Development teams.
  • Evolve test methodologies and develop tools and workflows to improve product quality, testing efficiency, and validation processes across teams, using comprehensive knowledge of technology trends. Own tool development for data analysis and equipment automation control.
  • Communicate, collaborate, and share relevant information. Offer to help teammates proactively.
