Corning’s Display Technologies segment manufactures glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays (“LCDs”) that are used primarily in LCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktop monitors.

Job Summary

The mold design engineer is responsible for mold and tooling design of customized 3D glass from prototyping to mass production. The person will be working closely with 3D process, reliability engineering, and operation team to provide the best solutions for our customers with competitive cost

Job Duties And Responsibilities

• Design 3D molds and tools to meet customer requirements in terms of technical specifications and quality
• Collaborate with team to make NPI & prototype parts for testing and evaluation, and providing day-to-day problem-solving supports to production, development and research operations
• Uses rigorous processes and technical knowledge to build detailed technical understanding for key mold & tooling design steps
• Functions as a team member or team leader on focused projects
• Trouble shoots material, process and product issues, identifies root cause and implements corrective action at mold & tools perspective
• Recommends and implements permanent solutions to long term performance issues, and improves existing and new technologies and processes
• Documents material, process and/or mold design to protect and contribute to Intellectual Property improvements
• Uses statistical tools and Tolerance Analysis in problem solving and conducts CIP (continuously improve process) to develop new capability
• Works with team to introduce new products and technologies
• Assure quality and repeatability of mold fabrication processes and products.
• Coordinates mold qualification, material selection, and mold life time improvement to provide competitive mold cost structure and meet product requirements.
• Designs and/or specifies new mold or modifies existing mold to continuously improve product performance.
• Develops SME knowledge of material, process and/or mold design in focused areas of mold manufacturing or engineering
  

Qualifications Education & Experience

• BS or Higher; Mechanical, Material, Chemical Engineering or related science or engineering background.
  

Required Skills & Experience

• 3+ years of industrial experience
• Extensive experience and expertise on molding / tooling design
• Familiar with 3D forming process or finished process
• Able to use 2D & 3D design software, such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks
  

Optional Skills & Experience

• Able to communicate in English and TOEIC sore 650 is a plus
• Familiar with 6-Sigma (DMAIC) / Lean, MEE, and DOE
• Project experience with Contract manufacturer is a plus.
• Experienced to work with operation/QA, AE/PE, and Engineering team.
