This role is a Talent advisor and business partner responsible for one or more business stakeholder groups (e.g. Global or Area SSL) as directed by SL Talent leadership. The role will understand and influence business strategy and workforce requirements, provide advice on strategic Talent matters including: workforce planning, strategic business-led change (e.g. M&A, new SSL practices) and will translate business needs into Talent function priorities, working with Talent Functions to ensure that Talent services/solutions deliver business value. Where necessary, the role will act provide insight and requirements to support effective design of Talent solutions to benefit the SL and champion Talent initiatives and (where necessary).

The opportunity

The role will build & nurture proactive relationships with Region SL Talent Leaders and their teams ensuring Global SL Talent strategy and priorities are executed effectively

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Global SL Talent Leader and Directors in the SL Talent team, work as trusted partner and strategic Talent advisor to one or more business stakeholder groups (e.g. Global or Area Sub Service Line) as directed by SL Talent leaders.
  • Interact with senior business leaders, and provide advice on all talent matters that contribute to achievement of SL/BU strategy and objectives
  • Understand and influence business strategy and drive the Talent/people agenda. Provide advice on strategic Talent workforce matters including: workforce planning, retention, skills/competency development and business changes (including: integration, M&A, new practice creation, workforce growth/reduction)
  • Identify and assess business needs, and communicate business issues and opportunities to the appropriate Talent functions to consider new or changes to Talent services/solutions
  • Respond to complex and urgent Talent queries from assigned stakeholder group, leverage experience across Talent ecosystem to provide guidance and address talent matters. Where required, prepare presentations and reports as requested by business leadership to support strategic priorities
  • Lead the Talent workstream of business-led projects. Act as change agent ensuring that Talent priorities are implemented in a way that provides solutions to business needs & issues
  • Oversee and monitor the effective delivery of Talent processes across Regions in an Area (e.g. Talent acquisition, development and management) working closely with Talent functions to address issues where required
  • Champion Talent change priorities/projects and (where necessary) provide expert input to design, test and implement changes to Talent services of benefit to the SL
  • As required, work to manage effective relationships and communications with Region SL Talent teams in an Area. Lead or participate in networks to: communicate SL business and Talent strategy, share best practices, identify needs/opportunities for Talent change and to collaborate to resolve problems that will enhance Region SL Talent delivery
  • Where required, handle complex employee relation matters, consulting with the key stakeholders to resolve issues

To qualify for the role, you must have
  • Education to degree level
  • Extensive experience in a closely related role as a business partner or strategic advisor in Talent
  • Significant experience of interpreting business strategy and championing the successful execution of strategic priorities
  • Significant experience of operating and influencing across multiple levels of an organization
  • Credible trusted advice to senior business leaders to address challenges, diagnose root causes of performance gaps and recommend options
  • Experience of influencing and communicating challenging messages between the business and talent teams where necessary
  • Significant experience of leading global virtual teams/networks
  • Experience of leading change working effectively with project resources to deliver required outcomes
  • Significant experience of coaching leaders through the embedding of change initiatives in global, matrix organizations (such as EY)
  • Strong experience of sponsoring or acting as subject matter representative on projects
  • Significant experience of working in fast-paced, ambiguous, stressful environments to deliver required results
