Job Description:

This position is responsible for the production measurement quality of all commercial products and new product introduction, focusing on problem solving of instrument issues, QC result & trend review, procedure optimization, Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and analytical method development. The Chemist must have in-depth understanding of the instruments and methods used for quality testing as well as the dangers of the testing to ensure safety assurance. Act as key partner of contacting in the Kaohsiung, Taiwan slurry production (KSP-N), working closely with production/material engineer, R&D team and customer facing team to resolve product issues or customer complaints.

• NPI Method Development & Validation
• Support for analytical method development, transferring, improvement, and R&D special study for new products and interesting analysis.
• Design and execute MSA (measurement systems analysis) for evaluating the new method. Transferring technology (new instruments, test methods) through training for routine test.
• Establish the SOP (standard operating procedure) and WI (work instruction) related to quality control. Make sure all the analytical method could be reliable and transferred to routine test.
• Help train Quality Technical on new method and importance of quality practices
• Instrument Management & Trouble Shooting
• All activities related to the operation and maintenance of analytical equipment and instrument, including preventative maintenance, trouble shooting, recovery activities, and critical spares preparation to minimize downtime.
• Ensure all documents of supporting repair, maintenance, calibrations/verifications, and test would be developed, maintained, and updated.
• Lead Capital projects where necessary to implement new instrument or equipment
• Optimize quality process in terms of defining EHS related, cost saving, productivity, or continued improvement/six sigma
• QC SPC & MSA Management
• Regularly review QC SPC trend and control limit. Investigate any out-of-control violation or gap to identify the root cause through statistical analytics and implement necessary solutions to prevent recurrence against quality problem.
• Annually plan MSA execution and review the results to see if any analytical method should be improved after that.
• Support other functional groups, first within Taiwan and then globally, as follows
• Production/Material Team – Work closely with engineers for any quality issue of raw material, in-process or finished good and ensure measurement system is reliable
• Production Excellence – Lead Six Sigma projects designed to reduce variability and implement global BKM project to local lab
• R&D Team – engage NPI activities, ensuring a smooth transition of new testing method and validating completely
• Customer Facing Team – Support customer inquiries or excursions by doing detailed data analysis of production data. Implement any necessary corrective actions in a timely manner.
• Timely responses to all quality related issues and support the measurements requested from customers and other sites. Understand the purpose, communicate with customer facing team, design experiments for root cause by suitable instruments, and report the results.
