Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience in camera engineering.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in an engineering field or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in optics design and stray light analysis and CMOS image sensor, including interfacing and tuning.
  • Experience in image quality evaluation including test charts, algorithms, and lighting.
  • Experience in prototype bringup and debugging, functional verification, and manufacturing support.
  • Experience in mechanical design and tolerance analysis of highly constrained, high-volume designs.
  • Experience with digital imaging pipeline, image quality, and algorithms (AE, AWB, etc.).

The Nest Camera team architects, designs, develops, and validates camera subsystems for delivery to the market in Google Nest products. As a Camera Design Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the design and specification of cameras.

Responsibilities

  • Lead sensor selection, lens specifications, module architecture, and camera system level design.
  • Work with cross-functional teams (software, product design, industrial design, program management, operations, finance, etc.) to deliver a successful product to market.
  • Validate designs, component and system level validation, ensuring highest level image quality standards.
  • Bring designs to mass production by setting factory test requirements, assisting in software bringup, and traveling on-site to the manufacturer to ensure the design is built and tested successfully.
  • Collaborate on the future architecture and specifications of Nest’s products.
