The Role

Entegris is seeking an Analytical Scientist with knowledge of analytical chemistry and techniques applied to the characterization of complex mixtures. This knowledge is required to develop analytical methods and to collaborate with R&D scientists that are developing new products for our customers. This opportunity allows the right person to expand their technical skill set and participate on a dynamic team in a growing organization.

The ideal candidate will be results oriented and an excellent team player, with solid knowledge of chemistry, materials science & physics, and familiarity with semiconductor device materials, structures, and metrology.

In this role you will

  • Collaborate and participate in cross-functional teams as analytical subject matter expert to support several of our product development teams located in Asia region.
  • Utilize knowledge of analytical chemistry to develop and validate fit for purpose methods to support new product introduction processes.
  • Continuous learning on new analytical techniques and methods
  • Support R&D teams to develop methods for analysis of new materials
  • Analyze samples as needed for material development and customer investigations/demos
  • Assist in planning metrology roadmap for the product area

Traits we believe make a strong candidate

  • Bachelor of Science in chemistry, physics or engineering required, Masters preferred.
  • General lab instrument (HPLC, IC, GC, GC-MS, FTIR, ICP-MS, ICP-OES) operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting experience (ICP-MS strongly preferred).
  • 2+ years of related technical experience or training preferred.
  • Experience working in a laboratory that conforms to ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 accreditations.
  • Experience working with air and moisture sensitive chemicals preferred
  • Familiarity with the following instrument software preferred: Mass Hunter, OPUS and OpenLab.
  • JMP and Minitab statistical software experience preferred.
  • Lab installation and qualification of new analytical equipment experience preferred.
  • Experience with validation of methods preferred
  • Prior experience working in cleanroom environment preferred
  • Knowledge of analytical laboratory regulation with regard to gases such H2, Ar, He, NH3, and O2 preferred
  • Knowledge of proper safe handling/disposal of chemicals and ability to maintain a clean and safe workspace
  • Hands on experience with applicable quality tools such as pareto, FMEA’s, SPC/SQC, histograms, trend analysis, process mapping, design of experiments, cause and effect diagrams, 8D problem solving methodology
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in written and spoken English. Mandarin is a plus
  • Strong independent operation skills and ability to complete lab work safely
  • Basic computer knowledge, including MS Office; LIMS experience preferred
  • Ability to travel 5% of time, some international

  • Effectively budgeting time and resources to analyze samples and complete projects in a timely manner.
  • Enabling quality initiatives as they relate to the customer, corporate objectives, quality planning, the quality policy, process improvement and new business goals and objectives; communicating with customers, suppliers and other resources in order to achieve these objectives.
  • Using proper controls for analytical instrumentation, validating and verifying data, and taking corrective action when necessary.
  • Improving laboratory consistency and quality ISO compliance by creating and revising laboratory policies and procedure.
  • Conferring with process engineers, development scientists, and manufacturing personnel regarding results and research, preparing technical reports and presentations to promote learning.
  • Proven ability to work in a cross-cultural and cross-language team environment.
  • Ability to learn and become proficient at several analytical techniques.
