JOB SUMMARY:

This individual functions as a subject-matter expert for Sustainability as part of the Greater China Continent Lodging Services team working with stakeholders across disciplines both in Greater China and at Corporate Headquarters. The Manager, Sustainability will support the GC ESG Committee [ND1] and Sr. Director, Owner Relations & Sustainability, Greater China to support the implementation of existing sustainability programs, collection of data, coordination of stakeholder meetings, communication of sustainability stories, and tracking of initiatives. This individual will utilize the available resources and tools to further explore the ways to enhance and implement programs and deliver results. This role would partner with key stakeholders to support for the short- and long-term sustainability goals of the company.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

Required Education:

· 4-year bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with a major/focus on Science or Social Science, Business Administration, Hospitality, or related major; OR related work experience.

Required Experience:

· Experience in sustainability, hospitality, or business consultancy

· Capability and experience of project management

· Experience in coordinating and executing projects on time and on budget

· Good communicator, both written and verbal; fluent in both English and Mandarin

Preferred Experience:

· Average knowledge of the competitive landscape and be able to keep updates with industry and sustainability trends

· Experience in combining data from industry analysis, company analysis, stakeholder and subject matter expert input, and trend evaluation

· Good communication and problem-solving skills

· Be able to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment within budgets and timelines

· Knowledge of business environment, service requirements, and culture

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Strategy & Communication:

· In partnership with the Sr. Director, Owner Relations & Sustainability, Greater China, and with alignment of the global sustainability team, develop approach for implementation of Greater China’s sustainability programs

· Function as an ambassador for sustainability, proactively assist to communicate the company’s vision to internal and external stakeholders as required and appropriate

· Promote and maintain key metrics and tools to measure Greater China’s progress against sustainability goals

· Provide data for and support to the Director to effectively develop regional policies as needed and manage the associated change in processes

· Serve as subject matter expert and support leaders on projects, surveys and sustainability reporting (i.e. collecting and summarizing Greater China data and actions)

· Support Sr. Director, Owner Relations & Sustainability, Greater China to partner with key operational disciplines (e.g., Operations, Procurement, Engineering, Global Design) to coordinate on qualitative and quantitative market and vendor research to continually improve Marriott’s sustainability program as required if any;

Initiatives and Partnerships:

· Support Sr. Director, Owner Relations & Sustainability, Greater China to coordinate the sustainability program for associates, suppliers, and partners by working collaboratively with all Greater China disciplines (as appropriate);

· Coordinate with the Procurement discipline to maximize leverage opportunities and trace for positive supplier sustainability results

· Advance and streamline measurement mechanisms to ensure consistent and accurate metrics

· Support the Greater China ESG Committee to drive leadership accountability and engagement with sustainability initiatives across all business units to ensure continued integration, success, and credibility of the program while being held accountable for the overall program success

· Work with key stakeholders to drive awareness and engagement of associates on the sustainability initiatives
